Well Red Men

Well Red Men is a writing partnership formed in 2024 by two red-headed writers and close friends, Ryan Milham and Jack Dutson. 

The pair originally met while working backstage on commercial musicals in Sydney, quickly bonding over their shared passion for storytelling beyond the theatre wings. Although both found success as theatre technicians on some of the country’s biggest musicals, they each dreamed of creative careers beyond wearing show blacks.

Jack was the first to leap, leaving backstage life to pursue acting, training at Actors Pulse and most recently landing a role in the Australian version of The Office. Ryan followed a few years later, turning his focus from theatre tech to screenwriting, his original passion from studying at The Academy of Film, Theatre and Television.

In 2024, they joined forces as Well Red Men, a partnership they jokingly hope will one day be known as the Australian Greg Daniels and Michael Schur though they can’t agree who’s who. Ryan’s grounded, dramatic writing style meshes perfectly with Jack’s wild, free flowing humour, creating a dynamic balance where each complements the other’s gaps.

Together, they aspire to craft Australian TV and film that blend absurd situations, characters, and worlds with the grounded reality of everyday life, telling universal stories with global appeal.
